Groups feature

BrowserG! provides a few preset groups of sites that a online user would most commonly use for some of their online activities. BrowserG! Groups contain either partner sites or the most commonly-used/popular sites on the web. If you use some sites often and want to make a group, you can do that! Read below..

Q) When should I use a BrowserG! Groups ?

Answer: If there is something that you often do online. You should most probably make a group for it. Personally, I go to different email sites to check my emails at a time or I like searching on different search engines one after the other or I like reading news articles. The list of activities goes on. This is when I would use a group. However, Groups don't have to be activity related. Think of them as saving you time with your online activities what ever they are. Lets say, you want to read two email accounts, go to a search page and then read up on a stock on some financial site.  Make a Group for it, it will save you typing time.  (See Figure: BrowserG! Groups in action!)

Q) How do I use Groups in BrowserG!?

Answer: There are two ways you can use Groups:

1)You can use Groups by either typing go://name_of_group in the url bar. For example: a user interested in reading his different email accounts might type go://email or go://mail. Person interested in finding out about different travel sites might type go://travel. You get the idea..

2)Click the NetStart button. Click the Groups Menu option.  You will see a list of all the BrowserG! Groups available on your system.  Select the Group you would like to view by double clicking it.  (See Figure: Viewing the Groups List )

Please note at this point Groups are not upgradeable. Meaning that if you upgrade to a new version of BrowserG! you will most probably lose them the next time around. We will be putting a mechanism in place to avoid this in future.  In the meantime, if  you would like to keep these Group customizations for the next release of BrowserG!, send us an email to browserg@mozdev.org and we will give you a workaround.
